Toni Maticevski launched his label in 1999.

AFTER completING his Bachelor of Fashion Design with Honours at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), MATICEVSKI worked with Donna Karan in New York. HE THEN MovED to Paris TO WORK at Cerruti womenswear for two seasons BEFORE returning to Melbourne where he continued to develop his unique design philosophy.

Early years of the Maticevski brand were driven BY an exploration in cut, surface decoration, finish, texture, fabric and silhouette manipulation. Heavily guided by instinct, Maticevski developed his first collection and took it to Paris where he sold it to then owner Marthe Demoulins, owner of Absinthe.

Successfully creating limited editions, Maticevski honed and developed his skills whilst working with noted brands in Melbourne and Sydney, INCLUDING Collette Dinnigan, Nobody Denim, Dita Von Teese and Myer. In addition, Maticevski worked with the National Trust of Victoria, curating and bringing together exhibitions at Como House AND Was fashion Director for Poster Magazine.

Maticevski has balanced art and fashion throughout his career with his own unique aesthetic. His pieces have BEEN purchased as part of the collections of THE National Gallery of Victoria, Bendigo Gallery, Powerhouse Museum Sydney and the Fashion Institute of Design in Los Angeles (FIDM).

Working in the Arts, Maticevski has collaborated with dance institutions such as Phillip Adams Ballet Lab, designing costumes for two productions, Miracle (2009) and Aviary (2011) for which he won a Helpmann Award (shared with Milliner Richard Nylon) Contributed to campaigns for The Australian Ballet (2009) and in 2013 HE workED with the National Gallery of Victoria on its most ambitious exhibition 'Melbourne Now'. Creating commissioned pieces, which will be on display amongst 140 of Melbourne’s most innovative Artists.

in 2002 MATICEVSKI won the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival “New Designer Award” and a few months later premiered his collection as part of the Mercedes-Benz fashion Week in Sydney. After successful showings until 2006, Maticevski was invited by Mercedes-Benz Fashion week New York to present his Collections. Showcasing his wares until 2010 in New York where he quickly became a favourite of fashion stylists and starlets he came back to Australia where he focused on his private clientele.

Pulling back on fashion week, Maticevski launched two licenced lines, Maticevski and Maticevski Sweethearts. Maticevski has used his love of design to develop shoe collections and continued the growth of custom bridal and couture made to order services. This has set the platform for the re-vitalization and renewal of the brands core vision in 2011. In 2012, with a stronger brand offering Maticevski showcased at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) Australia, with much critical applause and lauded as an innovator.
